:( Jeden z moich zdecydowanie ulubionych klubów angielskich po 128 latach istnienia zbankrutował i zakończył działalność. Kibice będą próbować go odtworzyć na najniższym szczeblu rozgrywek, będę trzymać za nich kciuki.

R.I.P. Scarborough Football Club 1879-2007

No battle, no victory

Scarborough Football Club has gone out of business with debts of £2.5m.

The former Football League club was wound up at Leeds High Court at a hearing on Wednesday morning.

Boro hoped the local council would lift a covenant on their McCain Stadium so it could be sold for residential use to cover debts and finance a new ground.

But the judge hearing the case felt a rescue package was unlikely in the face of mounting debts which include a sum of £820,000 owed to the Inland Revenue.

Despite the support of Scarborough Borough Council and the company's creditors, the club simply ran out of time

Statement from Scarborough FC

A statement from Scarborough read: "While it is sad to see the demise of a club with a proud history of 128 years, the club's finances have for a number of years been in a very poor state and the company has been in and out of various insolvency proceedings.

"Recently the club has been trying to sell the McCain Stadium for development to fund a move to an out of town purpose built stadium. However, this move has been fraught with difficulties.

"Despite the support of Scarborough Borough Council and the company's creditors, the club simply ran out of time. The company's total debt amounts to £2.5m.

"Rob Sadler and Mike Saville of Begbies Traynor have been appointed joint liquidators of the company and will now be liaising with Council to agree the disposal of the stadium in order to achieve the best return to the creditors.

"Whilst it is disappointing to see any club go out of business, the making of the winding-up order at this time allows the newly constituted supporters' trust an opportunity to reform and apply for membership of the North East Counties League.

"Hopefully this will ensure football for Scarborough in the coming season."

The Seasiders, a League club until 1999, had been accepted into the UniBond League for the 2007/08 campaign after suffering a second successive relegation last season.

That will no longer happen but supporters may now look to form a new club, playing at a lower level and ground-sharing with another local team.

Eye injury ends Sutton career

'He has taken into account the effects it might have on his future life'

Chris Sutton has been forced to retire after suffering an eye injury which left him with blurred vision.

Sutton was playing in a game for Aston Villa against Manchester United in December when he sustained the injury and was sidelined for the rest of the season. "If Chris had declared that his eye was OK he would probably have got another year at Villa," said his agent Tony McGill. "But he decided that he could not do himself justice with the eye injury - and more importantly he has taken into account the effects it might have on his future life."

Sutton won the Premiership with Blackburn in 1995, and won one England cap against Cameroon in 1997. But, three months later, he refused to play for England B against Chile, effectively ending his chances of making the 1998 World Cup squad despite finishing joint top scorer in the Premiership.

After an unsuccessful spell at Chelsea, Sutton moved to Celtic where he won the Scottish PFA Players' Player of the Year award in 2004. Sutton joined Birmingham in January last year but the did not work out as Blues were relegated, before he made Villa his final club.

Wielkie zadłużenie, problemy własnościowe, teraz do akcji wkroczył ichni urząd skarbowy... wielka szkoda by było.

The future of Leeds United is again in doubt after the club was put up for sale by its administrator.

KPMG said that it had made the decision because of a challenge by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) over the £7.7m it is owed by the Yorkshire club.

Former chairman Ken Bates had proposed to take Leeds out of administration, repaying creditors eight pence in every pound that it owed.

A deadline for offers has been set of 1700 BST on Monday.

"We are interested in talking to other parties," confirmed a KPMG spokesman.

The administrator had earlier warned that there was now a danger the club would be unable to start the new season.

Unpaid taxes

Leeds United has debts of £35m, including the money owed to HMRC in unpaid taxes.

Those who have previously declared an interest in buying the club include Duncan Revie, son of former Leeds manager Don, and property entrepreneur Simon Morris.

Earlier this week, businessman Simon Franks said he was ready to buy Leeds United, through his Redbus investment vehicle.

HMRC has been challenging Mr Bates's plans to exit administration at a High Court hearing in Leeds.

KPMG said that unless the club was able to leave administration, the Football League may not let it start the season.

League officials are due to meet next week to discuss the situation.

The court case has been adjourned until 3 September, while Leeds are due to play their first game of next season away to Tranmere on Saturday, 11 August.

Former Leeds chairman Gerald Krasner expects the ownership question to be sorted out before the start of the season.

However, a spokesman said that as the club was in administration he could not comment on KPMG's decision.

And Mr Bates has already warned that the cost of defending the HMRC's court action could cost the club its future.
